Sorry I have fallen behind on the blog. I (Naomi) went to Canada and the US for a month to speak in some churches and Bible studies as well as visit family and friends. It was a wonderful time for me and I ate a lot of all my favorite foods!
While I was gone, they got the roof poured. This involved getting a lot of guys together in order to make a bunch of cement and get it all poured in one day.
Men from the rehab centre came to help out, as well as our teens.
Those cement bags weigh 100 lbs! Angel, our 14 year old, is doing a pretty good job of handling it!
Felipe, our 13 year old, even got in on the work by shoveling rocks. According to this picture, he is working harder than the men nearby! :)
You can see a little bit on the left that the medium boys also were helping open some of the cement bags.
They had an assembly line going to haul the buckets of mixed cement up onto the roof.
It got finished in the one day and then they started on the stairs leading up to the apartment. There will only be an outside entrance for safety and privacy.
Now they are working on getting the plaster on the walls inside and out. As of now, the outside is done and they are working on getting the inside cleaned up and putting the plaster up there.
These pictures below were taken the beginning of last week. They are now cleaned up inside and the plaster is being applied in all the rooms.
So that is where we are at! Things are coming along very well and the older teens are getting very excited. The sooner it is done, the sooner they can move in. Needless to say, they are very motivated to get it finished. They continue to work on it whenever they don't have any other responsibilities around the house.
We have also been to different yard sales and have begun to buy furnishings for the kitchen, living room, bedrooms, etc.
We are happy with how things are coming. I hope you enjoyed this update. More on the kids later!
